ABSTRACT A rail fastener having a rail support plate coated with electrical resistant elastomeric material to protect against electrical current leakage from the rail through the rail support plate is described. The only part of the support plate not coated with the elecgtrical resistant elastomeric material are the serrations of the support plate. The coating of the support plate protects against current leakage from the rail to the support systems.
