ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Two-way rail switches (22) and three-way rail switches (24) for a monorail system (20) utilize a flexible coupling (36, 38) to provide for pivoting a rail member (34, 35) between aligned positions with branch rail lines (28, 30, 32). The flexible coupling (36, 38) connects a main rail (26) to the pivoting rail member (34, 35) so that a continuous rolling surface is formed, facilitating gravity feed. Movement between positions is controlled by actuation of pneumatic cylinders (64) having shafts (68) which may be connected in series to push a beam (46, 48) between positions so that the rail member (34, 35) is aligned with the branch rails. A glide track (52, 53) with a wear plate (54) guides the beam (46, 48) between aligned positions.
