Abstract Of The Disclosure A brake tester for measuring static force levels of the brake shoes and hand brake, and the pressure level of the brake cylinder of a railcar. Brake shoe load cells are used to measure brake shoe forces by creating point contact with the railcar wheel and undergoing deflection during application of a brake force. A clevis load cell measures hand brake force by simulating the clevis and produces an output from a plurality of strain gauges.
