The invention relates to a railing of prefabricated standard components with railing posts (1), connecting elements (2), between the railing posts (1) and railing inserts (3). The railing posts (1) respectively consist of an elongated part fastenable to a building structure (8) and an angled short end. The short end of the railing posts (1) islongitudinally movably insertable into the connecting elements (2). The elongated part of the respectively adjacent railing post (1) is held in a transverse opening of the connecting element (2). In accordance with the invention, the connecting elements (2) are constructed as handle parts which in a longitudinal direction have a pocket bore (5) for receiving the short end of a railing post (1) and transverse thereto a transverse bore (6) for the vertical elongated part of the railing post (1) connectable thereto. Furthermore, insert mounts (4) for the mounting of the railing insert (3) are adjustably mounted on the elongated part of the railing posts (1).
