A railroad car draft gear including a housing having an open end with a friction clutch assembly arranged in operable combination therewith. An elongated elastomeric spring assembly is disposed within the housing for storing energy during axial compression of the draft gear. A spring seat is arranged within the housing between the spring assembly and an end portion of each friction member forming part of the friction clutch assembly. The spring seat defines a surface, arranged in contacting relation with an end of the spring assembly, and defining at least one incongruity for allowing the elastomer of the spring assembly to combine therewith so as to establish a mechanical bond between the spring assembly and the spring seat.

Cette invention a pour objet un engrenage de tirage des chars de chemin de fer incluant un boîtier présentant une extrémité ouverte avec un ensemble embrayage à friction avec lequel il est agencé en combinaison fonctionnelle. Un ensemble ressort élastomérique allongé est disposé à l'intérieur du boîtier pour stocker de l'énergie pendant la compression axiale de l'engrenage de tirage. Un siège de ressort est agencé à l'intérieur du boîtier entre l'ensemble ressort et une partie d'extrémité de chaque pièce de friction faisant partie de l'ensemble embrayage à friction. Le siège de ressort définit une surface, disposée en relation de contact avec une extrémité de l'ensemble ressort, et définissant au moins une irrégularité devant permettre à l'élastomère de l'ensemble ressort de se mettre en prise de façon à établir un lien mécanique entre l'ensemble ressort et le siège de ressort.
