(Case No. 7024) ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A railroad grade crossing system characterized by long- wearing surface modules made of a synthetic material, such as polyethylene foam, by the injection molding method which thus provides a strong, durable, lightweight material. The inner running surface area, that is, the area between the rails of the crossing, is made up of a series of gage modules disposed in abutting relation between and transversely to the rails, whereas the outer areas on the outside of the rails are made up of a series of field modules disposed in abutting relation to each other, the abutting ends of both types of modules being designed to overlap each other over a cross tie so that lag screws may be inserted through the overlapping section and screwed into the cross tie for anchoring the modules.
