A manually-operable railroad switch stand for causing movement of railroad switch points between two extreme operating positions is provided with a crank assembly that is connected to the switch stand input shaft for joint rotation and that has a pair of parallel and substantially laterally spaced-apart handle pull-push segments which are each of sufficient length to alternatively accommodate an operator's hand or an operator's foot and which each may be selectively hand-grasped or foot-engaged by the switch stand operator without having to significantly bend his/her spinal column at the waist when manually causing movement of the switch points between the switch extreme operating positions thus avoiding possible costly operator spinal injury.
Appareil manuel de manoeuvre d'aiguillage de voie ferrée servant à déplacer des pointes d'aiguille entre deux positions de fonctionnement extrêmes. L'appareil comprend une manivelle raccordée à son arbre d'entrée afin d'effectuer une rotation de l'articulation. La manivelle inclut deux segments tire-pousse de la poignée parallèles et essentiellement écartés dans le sens latéral. Ces deux segments sont de longueur suffisante pour accommoder alternativement la main ou le pied d'un opérateur et ils peuvent être saisis sélectivement par la main ou engagés par le pied de l'opérateur de l'appareil sans nécessiter une courbure significative de la colonne vertébrale, au niveau de la taille, lors du déplacement manuel des pointes d'aiguille entre les positions de fonctionnement extrêmes, évitant ainsi un traumatisme rachidien possiblement coûteux.
