-1- Abstract The present invention relates to a car body for railway rolling stock and a method of fabricating the same. In particular, the present invention relates to a car body for railway rolling stock which travels at high speeds and a method of fabricating the car body. In order that a variation of external pressure produced when the rolling stock travels at high speeds is not propagated into the vehicle, the car body is of an air tight structure. However, in the conventional body, no great consideration has been taken with respect to a reduction in weight of the underframe portion or an improvement in rigidity. The present invention provides a car body for a railway rolling stock which can be reduced in weight and which can withstand a variation of external pressure by providing a construction in which the underframe, constituting the car body, has a curved surface having at least one or more radii of curvature over the width of the car body.
