A B S T R A C T A method for assembling an elongated cylindrical container having a large capacity for a liquid and a mechanical refrigerator railway car having an insulated compartment, the railway car comprising a floor, a roof, side walls, first and second end walls, a bulkhead intermediate the end walls, and a center sill extending the length of the railway car, the center sill having first and second longitudinally extending sides. The method includes providing a framework affixed to the cylindrical container for supporting and moving the cylindrical container with its axis horizontal, the framework comprising two elongated, spaced-apart horizontal girders extending approximately the length of the cylindrical container, and a saddle for supporting the cylindrical container and joining and separating the two girders; removing said the end of the railway car so as to provide access to the interior of the insulated compartment; sliding the cylindrical container and affixed framework into the railway car through the resulting open end; securing the cylindrical container in place within the railway car; and replacing the first end of the car, thereby enclosing the container within the railway car.
