A railway car with a slackless drawbar arrangement for unit trainservice and the like is provided and includes a drawbar having a section which is fabricated. The fabricated intermediate section is cut from a section of seamless pipe or tubing or can be fabricated from plate, while the coupling end pieces attached to each end of the shank are cast members made from typical casting methods. The coupling end pieces can be cast into standard fixed or rotatable drawbar ends or even be a combination thereof with rotational capability. The geometric shape of the intermediate section is varied, depending upon the application, so that resistance to torsional or bending loads is maximized. The fabricated shank portion is hollow, as well as part of the body of the coupling end pieces, thereby reducing the railcar's weight and costs to manufacture.

L'invention porte sur un wagon ferroviaire équipé d'un appareil de traction sans jeu pour un train-bloc et analogue, ledit appareil étant formé d'une section résultant d'un assemblage. Ladite section intermédiaire assemblée peut être coupée dans un tube ou un tuyau sans joint ou être fabriquée à partir d'une tôle, tandis que les embouts d'accouplement fixés à chaque extrémité de l'appareil de traction sont en fonte et sont fabriqués selon les méthodes classiques. Les embouts d'accouplement en fonte peuvent être des embouts d'appareil de traction standard, fixes ou rotatifs, voire une combinaison rotative de ces types d'embouts. La forme géométrique de la section intermédiaire varie selon l'application, le but étant de maximiser la résistance de celle-ci aux efforts de torsion ou de flexion. La section assemblée de l'appareil est creuse, de même qu'une partie du corps des embouts d'accouplement, ce qui réduit le poids du véhicule ferroviaire et les coûts de fabrication.
