ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION In an automotive windshield wiper control system, a rain sensor provides a rain condition-indicative signal useful in controlling the wiper in its intermittent operation mode. That signal is integrated to yield a value representing rain accumulation on the windshield, and when the integrated value exceeds a given threshold, the wiper is reciprocated once to clear the windshield. In order to prevent a rhythmic wiper operation, the signal integrator is disabled during wiper operation so that the integrated value will not approach the threshold too soon after or even before the end of the preceding wiper operation cycle.
