The present invention is directed to a detection device for quantification of microorganisms comprising an absorbent pad, wherein the absorbent pad comprises a growth medium or a detection medium or a combination thereof, a filter on top of and in contact with the absorbent pad, a liquid impermeable template on top of and in contact with the filter, wherein the template comprises a pre-determinded number of holes through which a liquid sample can flow.
