A rapid-onset pharmaceutical composition is provided, useful for treatment of sexual dysfunction, stimulation of sexual activity and enhancement of sexual desire, interest and performance in men and women. The composition is a dosage form comprising (a) a therapeutically or sexual-stimulatorily effective amount of a therapeutic agent having a molecular weight, excluding counterions, not greater than 250, and (b) at least one pharmaceutically acceptable excipient; and is adapted for delivery by a route of administration that entails interaction with the organs of taste yet has acceptable organoleptic properties. Illustrative therapeutic agents useful in dosage forms of the invention are compounds having the formula I: wherein X is O or S; and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof.

L'invention concerne une composition pharmaceutique à action rapide, utile pour le traitement de dysfonctionnements sexuels, la stimulation de l'activité sexuelle et l'augmentation de la pulsion sexuelle et des performances sexuelles chez l'homme et la femme. La composition est une forme posologique renfermant (a) une quantité d'agent thérapeutique, efficace du point de vue thérapeutique et du point de vue de l'activité et de la stimulation sexuelle, cet agent ayant un poids moléculaire, contre-ions non compris, qui ne dépasse pas 250, et (b) au moins un excipient pharmaceutiquement acceptable. Il s'agit d'une composition susceptible d'être administrée oralement pour assurer l'interaction avec les organes du goût tout en offrant des propriétés organoleptiques acceptables. A titre d'exemple, les agents thérapeutiques pouvant être utilisés dans la forme posologique décrite sont des composés représentés par la formule ci-après, dans laquelle X est O ou S, y compris les sels pharmaceutiquement acceptables correspondants.
