ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A thermistor useful for sensing temperature in an oxygen varying environment, such as the exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine comprises a compound corres- ponding to the formula PrFeO3. Thermistors comprising this compound exhibit insensitivity to oxygen partial pressure and may be used as temperature compensators for titanium oxygen gas sensors. PrFeO3 may be prepared by admixing Pr6O11and Fe2O3 in a molar ratio of Fe to Pr of about 1:1, and sintering the mixture at a temperature of above about 1000°C.
