A ratchet one-way clutch (20) has an inner member (22) with notches (28), an outer member (24) with pockets (26) and pawl members positioned in the pockets (26) for engagement with the notches (28). The pawl members have a pivot ridge (30) which mates with a peak (40) in the pockets (26). The pawl (25) center of mass (CM) is selectively positioned so that the pawl (25) can have a tendency to engage or disengage the notches (28). In alternative embodiments garter springs (58), coil springs (140) or ribbon springs (94) can be used to provide a tilting force on the pawls (25). Axial retainment members (62, 64) having axially extending flanges (118) can also be used with the present invention for improved radial bearing capability.

L'invention concerne un embrayage (20) à roue libre à rochets comprenant un élément intérieur (22) comportant des crans (28), un élément extérieur (24) comportant des poches (26) et des éléments de cliquets positionnés dans les poches (26) et destinés à s'engrener dans les crans (28).
