ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An RC composite component has a spark gap, a capacitor and a resistor and comprises a pair of discharge electrodes formed on a dielectric substrate to define the spark gap therebetween, which has a predetermined spacing, and a film comprising a varnish for maintaining the flash- over voltage within a predetermined range, the film being so formed on the dielectric substrate as to cover a region which includes the discharge electrodes and excludes the resistor.
