A shopping bag system includes a carrier for carrying a set of shopping bags folded flat. The carrier is configured to be connected directly side-by- side to other carriers of the same configuration so that any number of shopping bags can be carried using a single assembly. Each of the shopping bags is equipped with a full cover that retains the contents of the bag when it is fully extended and filled with articles.
