This invention relates to a composition prepared by reacting (A) a boron compound and (B) a phospholipid. These phos- pholipids are useful as lubricant additives for oil-base and water-base functional fluids. These materials act as anti-wear and/or extreme pressure agents. Further, these materials when incorporated into aqueous compositions have beneficial bacteriostatic ef- fects, i.e., controlling bacterial growth.
