A method for bonding together two substrates that includes applying to a first substrate an adhesive composition that includes (a) a trifunctional olefinic first monomer, (b) an olefinic second monomer that is copolymerizable with the first monomer and (c) a free radical initiator and then contacting a second substrate to the composition-applied first substrate so that the first and second substrate adhesively bond together. There is also provided a method for providing a coating on a substrate that includes applying to the substrate a composition that includes (a) a trifunctional olefinic first monomer, (b) an olefinic second monomer that is copolymerizable with the first monomer and (c) a free radical initiator and then allowing the composition to cure. Preferably, the adhesive or coating composition includes (a) a free radical polymerizable monomer component that includes a trifunctional olefinic first monomer and an olefinic second monomer that is copolymerizable with the first monomer and (b) a redox initiator system, wherein the adhesive composition is a liquid at room temperature and is curable at room temperature.
La présente invention concerne un procédé de collage de deux substrats l'un sur l'autre, tout d'abord par application sur un premier substrat d'une composition d'adhésif réunissant (a) un premier monomère oléfinique trifonctionnel, (b) un second monomère oléfinique copolymérisable avec le premier monomère et (c) un initiateur de radicaux libres, puis par mise en contact d'un second substrat sur le premier substrat enduit de sa composition de façon que le premier et le second des substrats se collent l'un à l'autre par adhésion. L'invention concerne également un procédé servant à l'application d'un revêtement sur un substrat, tout d'abord par application sur le substrat d'une composition réunissant (a) un premier monomère oléfinique trifonctionnel, (b) un second monomère oléfinique copolymérisable avec le premier monomère et (c) un initiateur de radicaux libres, puis par durcissage spontané de la composition. De préférence, la composition de l'adhésif ou du revêtement inclut (a) un monomère à radicaux libres polymérisable réunissant un premier monomère oléfinique trifonctionnel et un second monomère oléfinique copolymérisable avec le premier monomère, et (b) un système initiateur d'oxydoréduction, cette composition d'adhésif étant liquide à température ambiante et durcissable également à température ambiante.
