A reactive dye compound comprising: (a) at least one chromophore moiety; (b) at least one SO2C2H4 group which is attached to the chromophore moiety either directly via the sulphur atom of the SO2C2H4 group or a linking group L; characterised in that at least one SO2C2H4 group is substituted on its terminal carbon atom with at least one Y group wherein Y is -A(CO)R* wherein A is selected from O or S and wherein R' contains at least one terminal nucleophilic group, such as OH, NH2, SH, COOH, N, NHR1 and NR1R2 wherein R1 and R2 may be the same or different and may be selected from C1-C4 alkyl; and salts thereof. Also claimed is a process of manufacture of the compounds herein and products obtainable by the process. The compounds herein have high Exhaustion Values (E), high Fixation Values (F) and high Efficiency Values (T) and show significant improvements in terms of reducing spent dyestuff in effluent, increasing dye affinity to the substrate, increasing the dye-substrate covalent bonding, increasing the ability to dye substrates at room temperature, decreasing the amount of dye that is removed during the post dyeing "soaping off process" and therefore simplifying the post dyeing "soaping off process" traditionally associated with dyeing cotton with fibre reactive dyes and reduction of staining of adjacent white fabrics. In addition, the compounds prepared above provide more intense dyeings and require less levels of salt for dyeing cotton substrates.

L'invention concerne un composé colorant réactif comprenant (a) au moins une fraction chromophore et (b) au moins un groupe SO2C2H4, lié à la fraction chromophore directement par l'atome de soufre du groupe SO2C2H4 ou par une fraction de liaison L. Ce composé colorant réactif est caractérisé par le fait que le groupe SO2C2H4 est substitué au niveau de son atome de carbone terminal par un groupe Y, Y correspondant à -A(CO)R*, A étant choisi parmi O et S et R* contenant au moins un groupe terminal nucléophile, tel que OH, NH2, SH, COOH, N, NHR<1>, et NR<1>R<2>, R<1> et R<2> pouvant être identiques ou différents et étant choisis parmi un groupe alkyle en C1-C4 et ses sels. L'invention concerne également un procédé de production de ces composés ainsi que les produits obtenus par ce procédé. Les composés de l'invention présentent des valeurs d'épuisement (E) des valeurs de fixation (F) et des valeurs d'efficacité (T) élevées, et font preuve d'améliorations importantes en termes de réduction des produits colorants épuisés contenus dans les effluents, d'augmentation de l'affinité du colorant au substrat, d'augmentation de la liaison covalente colorant-substrat, d'augmentation de la capacité à colorer des substrats à une température ambiante, de réduction de la quantité du colorant qui est éliminée pendant le processus de savonnage après la coloration associée d'ordinaire à la coloration de coton avec des colorants réactifs à la fibre et de réduction de teinture de tissus blancs adjacents. Les composés préparés assurent des colorations plus intenses et nécessitent des niveaux inférieurs de sel pour colorer des substrats en coton.
