A process for the manufacture of a hydrogen storage material comprises comminuting a source of magnesium under a reducing atmosphere for a time sufficient to produce particles of a required particle size and crystallite size. At least one reducible PGM compound is introduced and substantially reduced during comminution such that it is distributed substantially at the surface of the particles.

Cette invention se rapporte à un procédé servant à fabriquer un matériau de stockage d'hydrogène et consistant à cet effet à broyer une source de magnésium sous une atmosphère réductrice pendant une période suffisante pour produire des particules ayant une taille de particules et une taille de cristallites requises. Au moins un composé métallique du groupe du platine (composé PGM) réductible est introduit dans l'opération de broyage et considérablement réduit pendant cette opération, pour qu'il vienne se répartir essentiellement à la surface des particules.
