- 18 - Abstract In a reactive-power compensator comprising a reactive-current converter of forced-commutation current converter rectifiers (1, ..., 4) in a current converter bridge circuit and a smoothing choke (10) used as termina- tion at the direct-current side, the advantage of constant compensation of both inductive and capacitive reactive- current components with clearly reduced system reaction is obtained by a special type of drive mode by means of sinusoidal width-modulated control pulses.
