Methods for producing a room temperature stable, phase pure .alpha.-C3P product, and compositions derived therefrom, are provided. In the subject method, a tricalcium phosphate source is heated to a temperature sufficient to convert substantially all of said tricalcium phosphate source to a substantially phase pure .alpha.-C3P product. The temperature of the resultant product is rapidly cooled to a temperature below about 700 ~C, resulting in a room temperature stable, reactive .alpha.-C3P product. The resultant .alpha.- C3P product may be milled to provide an .alpha.-C3P composition which may find use in the preparation of calcium phosphate cements.
Procédés destinés à fabriquer du C¿3?P à phase .alpha. pure, stable à température ambiante, et des compositions obtenues à partir de ce produit. Le procédé consiste à chauffer une source de phosphate tricalcique à une température permettant de le convertir pratiquement en totalité en C¿3?P à phase .alpha. pratiquement pure. La température du produit obtenu est rapidement abaissée à un niveau inférieur à 700 ~C, ce qui permet d'obtenir un C¿3?P .alpha. réactif et stable à température ambiante. Le C¿3?P .alpha. ainsi obtenu peut être moulu pour donner une composition de C¿3?P .alpha. qui peut s'avérer utile dans la préparation de ciments à base de phosphate de calcium.
