A reading head able to process both inductive debit cards and chip cards comprising two dissimilar complementary portions, the internal surfaces of said portions defining the channel housing the data card inserted in said head, the first portion (80) comprising inductive sensors (83) for the reading of inductive credit cells and the second portion (140) comprising the magnetic material plate (142) which completes the magnetic circuit of said inductive sensors, as well as contact pins (162) engaging the terminal pads on the surface of the card. Said portions remain normally kept apart by a first set of mechanical coupling means (84, 85, 86, 88, 89, 93, 94, 95, 144) placed between said two portions, the opening thus provided being substantially wider than the thickness of the card, the mutual approximation of said portions being provided by said mechanical means at the final part of the card's insertion travel.

Tête de lecture apte à traiter aussi bien les cartes de débit inductives que les cartes à puce, comportant deux parties complémentaires et différentes dont les faces internes délimitent le logement accueillant la carte support de données introduite dans ladite tête. La première partie (80) comporte des capteurs inductifs (83) permettant la lecture des cellules de crédit inductives, et la seconde partie (140) comporte la plaque (142) en matériau magnétique qui ferme le circuit magnétique desdits capteurs inductifs, ainsi que des broches de contact (162) coopérant avec les plots de connexion à la surface de la carte. Normalement, lesdites parties sont écartées par un premier jeu d'éléments mécaniques d'accouplement (84, 85, 86, 88, 89, 93, 94, 95, 144) placés entre les deux dites parties, l'ouverture ainsi créée étant sensiblement plus large que l'épaisseur de la carte, et le rapprochement desdites parties l'une de l'autre étant assuré par lesdits éléments mécaniques dans la phase finale de la course d'introduction de la carte.
