Office furniture, particularly file cabinets are constructed from metal wall panels having cooperating hems and flanges along predetermined edges thereof. The hems and flanges are formed out of the component parts of the cabinet such that when two edges come together, one contains a hem and the other a flange. The hem contains a slot in which the flange fits to secure the walls of the cabinet. The hem is constructed with holes to receive inclined tabs formed in the flange such that the assembled hem and flange form a square, rigid connection that cannot be disassembled. This construction allows furniture to be shipped unassembled in compact boxes, reducing the cost of shipping and storage, and assembled on site by the customer.
