A circuit breaker terminal (18) has an attachment screw (20) pre-assembled to an "open position" enabling an installer to insert a wire without having to loosen and back out the screw. After a wire has been inserted, the installer tightens the screw into forceful engagement with the wire to secure the wire to the load terminal. The attachment screw shank (20s) has an irregularity (38) that is located along a segment of the screw thread that lies between proximal and distal ends of the screw thread (34) and that interrupts the uniformity of the screw thread. This irregularity is disposed in interaction with a through-hole (28) in the terminal when the screw is in open position to create a resistance to turning of the screw which sufficiently exceeds the resistance to turning encountered when a portion of the screw thread immediately contiguous the irregularity is threaded into the through-hole. The irregularity maintains its interactivity with the through-hole to keep the screw in open position until the screw is turned by an installer at time of installation.
