Abstract of the Disclosure A reagent for the quantitative determination of water in combination with a titration solution containing iodine is described. The reagent contains sulfur dioxide and an anhydrous alkali metal acetate in 2-methoxy ethanol or a mixture of 2-methoxy ethanol and methanol in a volume ratio of at least 10:90. The reagent is characterized in that when it is left to stand no precipitate forms and the in- crease in control value is kept to a minimum.
