A set of contiguous and partially overlapping cDNA sequences and polypeptides encoded thereby, designated as BS265 and transcribed from breast tissue, is described. Theses sequences are useful for the detecting, diagnosing, staging, monitoring, prognosticating, in vivo imaging, preventing or treating, or determining the predisposition of an individual to diseases and conditions of the breast, such as breast cancer. Also provided are antibodies which specifically bind to BS265-encoded polypeptide or protein, and agonists or inhibitors which prevent action of the tissue-specific BS265 polypeptide, which molecules are useful for the therapeutic treatment of breast diseases, tumors or metastases.
L'invention porte sur un ensemble de séquences contiguës et partiellement superposées d'ADNc et de polypeptides codés par ces dernières, qu'on a appelé BS265 et qu' on a transcrit à partir de tissus de la poitrine. Ces séquences sont utiles pour détecter, diagnostiquer, stadifier, surveiller, pronostiquer, imager in vivo, prévenir ou traiter, ou bien encore pour déterminer la prédisposition d'une personne à des maladies et des affections de la poitrine, telles que le carcinome mammaire. On décrit également des anticorps qui se lient spécifiquement à une protéine ou un polypeptide codé par BS265, et des agonistes ou des inhibiteurs qui inhibent l'action du polypeptide BS265 spécifique contre les tissus, ces molécules étant utiles pour le traitement thérapeutique des maladies, des tumeurs ou des métastases de la poitrine.
