Epitopes, antibodies, methods and kits for the detection of Bt proteins in a sample are provided. The proteins to be detected are the Bt proteins known to those skilled in the art as the Cry1 Ab and Cry1 Ac proteins. The epitopes are antigenic peptides of these Bt proteins and are immunoreactive with the monoclonal antibodies 113L2 and 113I1. The epitopes are isolated or synthesized and administered to animals to produce anti-Bt monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies having superior sensitivity for Bt proteins. The antibodies are useful in immunoassay methods for the detection of genetically modified organisms that have been engineered to include a Bt gene.

L'invention concerne des épitopes, des anticorps, des procédés et des kits destinés à détecter des protéines Bt dans un échantillon. Les protéines à détecter sont les protéines Bt connues des praticiens sous le nom de protéines Cry1 Ab et Cry1 Ac. Les épitopes sont des peptides antigéniques de ces protéines Bt et sont immunoréactifs avec les anticorps monoclonaux 113L2 et 113I1. Les épitopes sont isolés ou sythétisés et administrés aux animaux afin de produire des anticorps anti-Bt monclonaux et polyclonaux présentant une sensibilité supérieure aux protéines Bt. Ces anticorps sont utiles dans les procédés de dosage immunologique destinés à la détection d'organismes génétiquement modifiés en vue de renfermer un gène Bt.
