Capillary membrane sampling-flow injection analyzer (CMS-FIA) analyses of drinking water samples for quantity measurements of total trihalomethane and haloacetic acid contaminants therein are provided. With the necessity to chlorinate drinking water to remove harmful bacteria and other potential toxins, trihalomethane and haloacetic acid byproducts are generated that may harm humans after consumption as well. A reliable manner of measuring such drinking water supplies for such trihalomethane and/or haloacetic acids at locations far from the source and closer to dispensers is highly desirable. The CMS-FIA analysis method of the invention has been found to be nearly as reliable as source measuring methods for the same purpose, but with the versatility to measure for such trihalomethane and haloacetic acid contaminants anywhere along the drinking water supply line.

La présente invention concerne lanalyse par injection en flux continu et échantillonnage sur membrane capillaire (CMS-FIA) déchantillons deau potable pour des mesures de quantité des polluants à base de trihalogénométhane et dacide halogénoacétique contenus dans celle-ci. Avec la nécessité de chlorer leau potable pour éliminer les bactéries nuisibles et autres toxines potentielles, les sous-produits à base de trihalogénométhane et dacide halogénoacétique sont produits et peuvent également être nuisibles pour les humains après consommation. Une façon fiable de mesurer les quantités de trihalogénométhane et dacide halogénoacétique dans lalimentation en eau potable à des endroits éloignés de la source et plus proches des distributeurs est fortement souhaitée. Lanalyse par CMS-FIA de linvention sest avérée être presque aussi fiable que les méthodes de mesure à la source pour les mêmes fins, mais avec une polyvalence permettant de mesurer les quantités de polluants à base de trihalogénométhane et dacide halogénoacétique nimporte où le long la conduite dalimentation en eau potable.
