A brake light for a vehicle includes an enhanced warning effect defined by a strobe light having a clear lens mounted between two or more conventional red lens bulbs. A control device actuates the strobe light so that it flashes for a short period of time and then ceases, only to be reactivated when the brake pedal is pressed again. The control device stops the flashing action in the event that the vehicle is moving slowly to avoid the strobe light becoming a distraction in slow moving traffic.
