A method of rear drive conversion of the M113 family of vehicles to provide a light, mobile and tactical hybrid vehicle. The method includes stripping an M113 to a base aluminum hull (10) and providing modified or newly fabricated parts (24, 25, 26, 28) to produce a converted rear drive vehicle (30). Using the rear drive conversion process, critical operations parameters such as volume under armor, mobility, air transportability and vehicle performance efficiency per unit weight are significantly increased.

Méthode de conversion de véhicules de la famille des M113 en véhicules à transmission arrière afin d'obtenir un véhicule léger, mobile, et hybride sur le plan tactique. La méthode consiste à dénuder un M113 sur une coque de base en aluminium (10) et à y monter des pièces modifiées ou nouvelles (24, 25, 26, 28) afin d'obtenir un véhicule converti à la transmission arrière (30). En utilisant ce procédé de conversion, on améliore considérablement des paramètres de fonctionnement tels que le volume sous cuirasse, la mobilité, le transport par voie aérienne ainsi que les performances du véhicule par unité de poids.
