REAR INDEPENDENT WHEEL SUSPENSION SYSTEM ABSTRACT Rear independent wheel suspension system for a motor vehicle of the drawn arm type, having a V-shaped housing joining corresponding ends of the wheel arms. The other ends of the wheel arms are joined to the stub axles. Two torsion bars are housed in the V-shaped housing. The torsion bars are joined in their middle by a shackle. The free ends of the torsion bars are joined to the body of the motor vehicle by elastic joints and to the wheel arms respectively. The tip of the V-shaped housing is situated approximately in the plane containing the wheel arms, and the V-shaped housing is oriented so that the plane containing the long axes of the central ellipsis of inertia of its various cross-sections meets the ground along a line passing at or near the point of contact of the rear wheels and the ground.
