In archery, there is an accessory known as an arrow holder whose purpose is to keep the arrow in position on the bow and prevent it from falling before the drawing of the bow begins. It is particularly useful in hunting. In this invention, the mobile portion of the arrow holder moves backwards as soon as the drawing of the bow begins, releasing the arrow and guiding it on its way. This arrow holder is especially suitable for use with an arrow rest designed for shooting with a mechanical release, as used by the bulk of archers.
