An external rear view mirror assembly (10) for motor vehicles having a support arm (12) and brackets (18) for mounting the support arm to the motor vehicle. A housing (20) defining an interior volume is provided with the support arm having a vertical portion (14) extending completely through the interior volume of the housing. At least one support plate (32) removably attached directly to the vertical portion of the support arm. An adjustable mirror assembly (58) mounted to the front side of the support plate so as to be variably positionable relative thereto. An antenna mounting bracket (38) formed integral with and extends from the back side of the support plate into the interior volume of the housing. The antenna mounting bracket is configured for receipt of an antenna (40) which extends out of a hole (66) of the housing. The entire weight of the antenna and the antenna mounting bracket is supported by the support plate which is in turn directly attached to the support arm.

L'invention concerne un ensemble rétroviseur (10) pour véhicules automobiles comprenant un bras de support (12) et des pattes d'attache (18) pour monter ledit bras sur le véhicule automobile. Un boîtier (20) définissant un volume intérieur est doté du bras de support dont une partie verticale (14) s'étend complètement dans le volume intérieur du boîtier. Au moins une plaque de support (32) est montée amovible directement sur la partie verticale du bras de support. Un ensemble rétroviseur réglable (58) est monté sur le côté frontal de la plaque de support de sorte qu'il puisse être positionné de manière variable par rapport à cette dernière. Une patte (38) de support d'antenne fait partie intégrante du revers de la plaque de support et s'étend depuis celle-ci dans le volume intérieur du boîtier. La patte de support de l'antenne est conçue pour recevoir une antenne (40) qui s'étend à l'extérieur d'un orifice (66) pratiqué dans le boîtier. Le poids total de l'antenne et de la patte de fixation de l'antenne est supporté par la plaque de support qui est elle-même fixée au bras de support.
