ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A rear wheel suspension device for use with a tricycle vehicle is disclosed. The vehicle includes front and vehicle portions with the front vehicle portion having a frame. A pair of rear wheels are mounted on the rear vehicle portion by axles and a rolling joint interconnects the front and rear vehicle portions. This rolling joint includes a casing having a sleeve bearing therein and pivotally mounted on the frame for substantially up and down angular movement with respect to the front vehicle portion. Rolling joint further includes a spindle rotatably mounted in the casing and the axles of the rear wheels have a fixed postionally relationship with the longitudinal axis of the rolling joint. A shock absorber is interposed between the frame and the casing. Such a suspension allows the rear frame of the vehicle including the rolling joint to pivot relative to the main frame to absorb variations in the terrain the vehicle is going over. This structure is much simpler than that previously proposed and results in improved rider comfort as the shock absorber can be placed in a more appropriate location than that possible with the prior practices.
