RECHARGEABLE BATTERY POWERED LIGHTING SYSTEM Abstract There is described a battery powered lighting system including a lighting fixture having mounted therein an electrically powered lamp and one or more rechargeable storage batteries. The system also includes an electrical circuit for recharging the batteries from, for example, a photovoltaic source, means for detecting a first level of battery discharge and providing a visual or audible indication of such condition, and means for detecting a second level of the batteries and shutting the lamp off in response to such detection.
