A RECHARGEABLE BATTERY SYSTEM FOR MAINTAINING VOLATILE MEMORY DATA IN A COMPUTER Abstract A rechargeable battery system designed to provide current to one or more volatile memory devices in a computer while the computer is not otherwise energized. When the computer is energized and power is available to the volatile memory device directly from the computer's power supply, the subject system recharges the battery of the system from the now energized computer power supply. The system includes a transistor which directs the power from the computer's power supply, when energized, through a voltage regulator and resistor assembly the battery for recharging. The transistor serves as an electrical valve to prevent the current from the batteries from flowing back to the computer's power supply when the computer is not energized.
