An algorithm calculates spectral expansion filter coefficients (712) using a value proportional to a reciprocal (720) of a feedback/feedforward signal (a) and stores the coefficients to a lookup table. The lookup table is indexed by a pre-selected set of coefficient bits to generate a filter coefficient function. A first portion of the lookup table stores a plurality of discrete values at index points of a line segment corresponding to a filter coefficient function approximation, so as to generate an initial discrete value corresponding to the filter coefficient function at a value of the high order bits and a second portion stores a plurality of slope values, which indicates a slope of the filter coefficient function. A linear circuit interpolates/decimates an approximation of the compression/expansion filter coefficient function based on the slope value, the initial discrete value and a preselected set of low order bits of the reciprocal value.

Un algorithme calcule les coefficients (712) du filtre d'expansion spectral au moyen d'une valeur proportionnelle à une réciproque (720) d'un signal se propageant vers l'avant (a) et mémorise ces coefficients dans une table de consultation. Cette dernière est indexée selon un ensemble présélectionné de bits de coefficient afin de générer une fonction de coefficient de filtre. Une première partie de cette table de consultation mémorise une pluralité de valeurs discrètes au niveau de points de référence d'un segment linéaire correspondant à une approximation de la fonction du coefficient de filtre, de manière à générer une valeur discrète initiale correspondant à cette fonction de coefficient de filtre au niveau d'une valeur des bits d'ordre supérieur et une deuxième partie mémorise une pluralité de valeurs de pente indiquant une pente de cette fonction de coefficient de filtre. Un circuit linéaire effectue la décimation d'une approximation de la fonction du coefficient de filtre d'expansion en fonction de cette valeur de pente, de la valeur discrète initiale et d'un ensemble présélectionné de bits d'ordre inférieur de la valeur réciproque.
