A reclosable container (10) as shown in Figures 3 and 4, comprising: a container having an opening (22) defined by a rim (18); a reclosable lid (32) having a rim-engaging portion (34) and a recessed portion (36) inwardly of the rim-engaging portion; and sealing sheet material (38) separate from the lid, the sealing sheet material extending across the opening and being removably secured to the container rim beneath the lid; wherein the recessed portion of the lid (36) projects into the container opening (22) and the sealing sheet material has a recessed portion (38) which accommodates the recessed portion of the lid (36).
