The invention relates to a recoil buffer (1) that can be mounted and/or is mounted on a small arm. Said recoil buffer (1) is designed in such a manner that the effective surface (8) thereof substantially enlarges from a first state of the recoil buffer (1) in which it is forced against the body (7) of a marksman during leveling to a second state during shooting.
