Accordingly, the invention provides constructs in which the nucleic acids encoding Plasmodium falciparum MSP4 and MSP5, and the resulting polypeptides, have been modified. More particularly, this invention provides constructs encoding recombinant MSP4 and MSP5 polypeptides, which are expressed as soluble, secreted polypeptides in a baculovirus-insect cell expression system. It was surprisingly found that the recombinant polypeptides contain an EGF- like domain at the C-terminus that is properly folded in the polypeptide.
L~invention concerne des constructions géniques caractérisées en ce que les acides nucléiques codant pour la MSP4 et la MSP5 de Plasmodium falciparum, et les polypeptides correspondants, ont été modifiés. Plus particulièrement, cette invention concerne des constructions géniques codant pour des polypeptides MSP4 et MSP5 recombinés, lesquels sont exprimés sous forme de polypeptides secrétés solubles dans un système d~expression baculovirus-cellules d~insecte. Il a étonnamment été découvert que les polypeptides recombinés contiennent un domaine apparenté à EGF au niveau de l~extrémité C qui est correctement replié dans le polypeptide.
