Abstract The invention relates to a recombinant protein which binds to a complex viral antigen of HIV-1. The manufacture, production, purification and application of this protein are described. The protein contains the variable regions of a human anti-HIV-1 antibody connected by a linker. The production is carried out in various prokaryotic or eukaryotic systems. Biochemical chromatographic methods are used for the purification. The described recombinant protein can be used for detecting, quantifying and purifying HIV-1 antigen.
