This invention provides a recombinant swinepox virus comprising a foreign DNA inserted into a swinepox virus genome, wherein the foreign DNA is inserted into a) an AccI site within a region corresponding to a 3.2 Kb HindIII to BglII subfragment of the HindII M fragment and b) an EcoRI site within a region corresponding to a 3.2 Kb subfragment of the HindIII K fragment which contains both a HindIII and EcoRI site, of the swinepox virus genome and is capable of being expressed in a host cell into which the virus is introduced. The invention further provides vaccines and methods of immunization of the recombinant swinepox virus.

L'invention concerne un virus de recombinaison de la variole porcine comprenant un ADN étranger introduit dans un génome de virus de la variole porcine, cet ADN étranger étant introduit dans (a) un site AccI à l'intérieur d'une zone correspondant à un sous-fragment de 3,2 Kb de HindIII à BgIII du fragment de HindIII M et (b) un site EcoRI à l'intérieur d'une zone correspondant à un sous-fragment de 3,2 Kb du fragment de HindIII K contenant à la fois un site HindIII et EcoRI, du génome du virus de la variole porcine et étant capable d'être exprimé dans une cellule hôte dans laquelle on a introduit le virus. Elle concerne également des vaccins et des procédés d'immunisation contre le virus de recombinaison de la variole porcine.
