- 1 - ABSTRACT A local network comprises a plurality of active nodes placed along a folded unidirectional bus which presents a writing branch and a reading branch. The nodes provide means for effecting network reconfiguration in the event of a failure, and for regular service restoration after repair following the failure, and means for implementing an ordered access protocol based on the physical position of the nodes and allowing hybrid frames to be transmitted through the bus.
