21739-110 ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Disclosed are novel compounds of the formula Image (wherein A1 and A2 are each hydrogen or aryl, R1 is hydrogen, alkyl or aralkyl, R2 to R5 are each hydrogen, halogen, alkyl, alkoxy or aralkoxy, R2 and R3 may additionally be primary or secondary amino, dialkylamino, dibenzylamino, piperidino, pyrrolidino or morpholino, and R6 and R7 are hydrogen, alkyl, aryl or aralkyl) or structural isomers thereof in which one or both of the ethylenic links are adjacent to the terminal rather than the central aryl groups. These compounds are useful as chromogenic compounds for record material.
