Abstract of the Disclosure A printing device is provided which includes a feeler pivotally mounted on a printer frame and urged into engagement with record media positioned on a platen for printing. A mag- netic element on the feeler coacts with a Hall generator on the frame to provide a control voltage which is effective to con- trol a motor for positioning of the frame so that a print head mounted on said frame is located at a proper distance from the record media for printing thereon.
