ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An arrangement for guiding paper during its transport in print- ers includes a rotary platen over which the paper is guided. In preventing the formation of wavy bulges when the paper is advanced, there is provided in front of the paper and extending across its width a guide element which is adapted to deflect the paper from its direction of advance in such a manner that the paper is pressed against the rotary platen by pressure rollers. The guide element is movable from a first position in which it does not obstruct movement of the paper towards the platen to a second position in which it deflects the paper. In this way, the paper contacts the platen at a point in advance of the point at which a pressure roller is arranged. The guide element is pivotably mounted and biased to the second position by a spring. The arrangement is suitable for the slack-free advancing of paper in tele- printers.
