A recording material comprising a base material and at least one polymer selected from the group consisting of a homopolymer of diallylamine, copolymers of diallylamine with (meth)acrylamide and optionally at least one other vinyl monomer having substantially no carboxyl groups, and salts thereof (hereinafter referred to as "polymer of the present invention"). The polymer is contained in said base material or in a coating layer formed on said base material, on which an ink is printed with good initial coloring property. The resultant printed image has higher resolution and improved water and light resistance.
