RECORDING MATERIAL AND PROCESS FOR PREPARATION THEREOF Abstract of the Disclosure The invention relates to a recording material capable of providing a reproduced signal having an improved S/N ratio. This recording material comprises a plastic sub- strate, a recording film formed on the plastic substrate, the shape or property of which film is changed under irradiation with processing beams, and a polymer layer having a smooth surface and being composed of a non- photosensitive polymer, which is disposed between the plastic substrate and the recording film. In this way, plastic instead of glass can be used as the substrate while avoiding the usual increase in noise characteristic of plastic substrates.
